An Indiana interstate was shut down in both directions Tuesday after a multi-vehicle crash left drivers trapped during a snowy morning commute.
Indiana State Police said the pileup happened on Interstate 74 near mile marker 168 in Dearborn County.
Initial reports indicate the crash involved nearly 30 semis and cars, authorities said. 
According to Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, first responders were working to free people that were trapped in their vehicles after the pileup. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the crash.
A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect for the area until 7 p.m. Tuesday. Forecasts called for 1-3 inches of snow and wind gusts near 30 mph.
